My Earliest Memory #274

Age: 22 months.
My mother was very pregnant with my sister, and we were lying on her bed – her back was propped up on the headboard.
She was smoking a cigarette with the ashtray resting on top of her big belly.
The astray was bouncing around due to my sister’s kicking inside.
We were laughing as we watched the ashtray move.

My Earliest Memory #273

I was three years old.
An outdoor gathering from Dad’s office at night.
Saw my brother did something–I didn’t remember what it was–I only remembered I was angry. Instead of pinching or kicking him, I ran away crying to my house.
It was crowded, but then someone handed me a glass of Fanta, and I drank it.

Other memories from that age:
Saw a full moonrise from the window.
I was stunned; I had no idea that moon could be that big and yellow.
First colouring picture, a strawberry.
Mum taught me to write numbers and letters.
Dad taught me a song about a bulbul on the top of a cempaka (magnolia) tree.
Ate a popsicle (the one in a narrow plastic bag).
Orange flavour.
Played with a steamboat toy.
Got minor burn on my right pinky with an iron, and the back of my right foot by a motorcycle exhaust pipe.
The burn mark on my foot is forever there.

My Earliest Memory #271

I was between the ages 0.5 and 1.5, but I don’t know when specifically.
Lying on my back with white bars around me (my crib), above me a cord (a mobile); pulling it, music.
Such great warmth and total content emotion, everything is perfect and in order.
So safe.

I tend to visit this memory quite often, playing the same music that the mobile played and jumping into the emotions of my past.
Still every time I do it I start crying in total bliss.
