My Earliest Memory #370

At age 4-6, I had this recurring dream.
Always identical, so it had to be a memory of something even earlier.
I am half asleep, something going beep, beep, in the background.
I awake with a jolt.
I am being lifted up, in a sitting position.
Up past a close surface looking like a layer of raw meat.
This did not seem stranger than anything else that day.
Lots of light, much of it greenish.
A change in orientation – my face is looking down now.
I see a thigh, much longer than me.
Clearly, I were very small at that time.
As I am carried, I eventually get to look over the bent knee and see a lower leg with a foot.
The dream ends.
Over 40 years later, I understood: I apparently have a memory of being delivered by caesarean section.

My Earliest Memory #369

Aug, 2003.
I think I was 2.
Standing in the living room at our old place (when I was 7 we moved out of there), and watching a red tape (I think it was a tape my mom bought for me on my grandma’s death anniversary) spin around.
It was one of those “Toddler Tunes” tapes. Suddenly, the music stopped.
The power had gone out.
(Later, I learned it was the August 2003 FirstEnergy blackout).
